The one reason your writing is boring

Have you ever cared to ask why some writers churn out page turners while others don’t?

It is commonplace to find the work of a good writer interesting, engaging and awesome in flow.

You find yourself reading such page turners faster.

But what makes a piece great enough to make you turn to the next page without getting tired?

What drives boredom from the writings of some writers?

Well, today I’m going to tell you one major reason writings could turn out boring.

The sense of writing

There’s something many get wrong about writing. They believe it should be formal. Thus they sound official when they write.

But in reality, writing should be as simple as talking. Although you pay more attention to grammar in writing you can always rewrite your piece to meet those standards.

The use of transition or lack of is the one thing I want to tell you about today.

Transition is simply movement. The writing piece you’re writing is going to move the reader from the beginning to its end. To do this you need to use some link words.

These words include then, furthermore, however, therefore and a host of others.

Just as while speaking you need to use these to communicate what happened subsequently, so also does your writing.

Now look at how boring and cluttered a sentence would look without good link words.

The boy glanced at his watch miss a step falls off the podium spoilt his presentation.

Now look at what happens when I put transition words

The boy glanced his watch then miss a falls off the podium and spoilt his presentation.

Now you know one thing that could easily make your writing boring. The use of transition words could make all the difference in your pieces.

Go use transition words today.

A goodly piece of advice, even though the presentation of it is almost too formal and boring.
